MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes signed defensive end John Bowman to a contract extension through the 2017 season Tuesday.

The six-foot-three, 250-pound Bowman has registered a club-record 106 sacks in 10-plus seasons with Montreal.

Bowman, 34, had a CFL-best 19 sacks last season and has recorded a team-high four sacks in five games so far this year.

A two-time CFL all-star, Bowman has appeared in 150 career games with Montreal and helped the Alouettes win consecutive Grey Cup titles in 2009-10.
