Suxkenxitelx kl cecamala (formerly Aboriginal CATCH) is hosting an evening to celebrate new local research on Aboriginal fathers.
These dads are so important to their children's health and well-being, because kids whose dads play an active, positive role in their lives do better in school, get along better with their peers and authorities, and generally have better health throughout their lives.
With so many dads cut off from their traditional roles due to the upheaval caused by residential schools, etc. Aboriginal children are especially vulnerable.
The Central Okanagan Aboriginal community created a program for First Nations and Metis dads that has been running for two years.
We invite you to meet some local fathers and Wes McVey, who conducted the research,
