Canucks’ Jake Virtanen rejoins Canada juniors after four others cut from roster

TORONTO – Jake Virtanen of the Vancouver Canucks was given permission to join Canada’s national junior team on Sunday ahead of the world junior hockey championship.

The announcement came just an hour after Hockey Canada completed its first round of cuts to its selection camp roster.

Forwards Pierre-Luc Dubois, Michael Dal Colle and Spencer Watson were cut by Hockey Canada after the second of two exhibition scrimmages between the junior team and a team of Canadian university all-stars.

Defenceman Jakob Chychrun was also cut by Hockey Canada.
