OTTAWA – Statistics Canada says the economy added 27,700 jobs in May, far more than economists expected.
The unemployment rate also fell to a record low of 5.4 per cent, down from 5.7 per cent in April.
Economists had expected a gain of 8,000 jobs for the month and the unemployment rate to remain at 5.7 per cent, according to Thomson Reuters Eikon.
