TORONTO – Don Cherry will have a Hall of Fame coach in his corner at the 2016 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
The CHL announced Wednesday that legendary Ottawa 67’s coach Brian Kilrea will join Team Cherry’s coaching staff for the annual prospects game.
Kilrea was behind the 67’s bench for 2,156 games over 32 seasons, racking up a league-record 1,193 wins and leading Ottawa to Memorial Cup titles in 1984 and 1999.
Kilrea’s longtime assistant Bert O’Brien and former NHL players Brian Sutter and Colby Armstrong round out Cherry’s staff.
Former NHL players Glen Hanlon and Todd Warriner will join Hall of Fame defenceman Bobby Orr’s coaching staff.
The annual showcase of the CHL’s top-40 NHL Draft eligible players takes place Jan. 28 in Vancouver.
