Driver nearing trial for Christmas eve, 2015 fatal accident
PENTICTON – A pre-trial conference was held in Penticton court today for a motorist involved in a fatal crash last year.
David Andrew Cook faces charges of impaired driving causing death, impaired driving and dangerous driving causing death in relation to a Dec. 24, 2016 motor vehicle incident.
The accident occurred on Highway 97 north of Penticton in an area where the highway has no dividers, defence lawyer Don Skogstad told Judge Gale Sinclair at today’s pre-trial conference.
Skogstad and Crown Prosecutor John Swanson came before Judge Sinclair to discuss details of a preliminary inquiry into Cook’s trial, which will take place before a judge in B.C. Supreme Court.
Both counsels are referring to the judicial case manager’s office for a date for the preliminary inquiry.
