OTTAWA – The Ottawa Redblacks have agreed to terms with free-agent quarterback Trevor Harris.
A league source said Harris and Ottawa agreed to a two-year contract. Harris became a free agent following the noon ET deadline.
Harris, 29, spent four seasons with Toronto and becomes the second quarterback to leave the Argonauts in free agency for an East Division rival.
Zach Collaros left Toronto after the 2013 season to sign with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Harris made 16 regular-season starts for Toronto last season while veteran Ricky Ray recovered from off-season shoulder surgery. Ray returned under centre to start in the Argos’ final two regular-season contests as well as their 25-22 East Division semifinal loss to Hamilton.
The Argos re-signed Ray, who was eligible to become a free agent this off-season, to a two-year contract extension in December.
Veteran quarterback Henry Burris was the CFL’s outstanding player last season in leading Ottawa to the Grey Cup. Burris is entering the final year of his contract with the Redblacks and turns 41 in June.
