Future of Toronto FC reserve striker still up in the air at training camp
TORONTO – English forward Luke Moore’s future with Toronto FC remains up in the air but it appears the two sides are discussing an exit strategy.
Moore, who has a year left on his MLS contract, has been a no-show since training camp began last month. Toronto officials said he had been granted permission to train with a team in England.
Toronto head coach Greg Vanney said Moore’s representatives are in contact with GM Tim Bezbatchenko about the 29-year-old’s future with the MLS club.
“We’ll see how it plays out over the next few days I imagine,” Vanney said Wednesday.
At US$235,000, Moore is an expensive backup and Toronto could likely use the cap space. A sale to another club would ease that burden.
Moore appeared in 15 games last season with six starts. He has seven goals in 42 appearances with Toronto over two seasons.
