B.C. man arrested on 8-year-old warrant after conviction for dangerous driving

LANGLEY, B.C. – The long arm of the law has reached out and arrested a B.C. man eight years after a warrant for him was issued.

Jason Burkard, now 38, was found guilty in 2005 of several charges such dangerous driving in which his vehicle hit two other cars in Langley, including an RCMP cruiser while a Mountie was trying to pull him over.

Burkard was also convicted of theft and possessing stolen property, given an 18-month conditional sentence and ordered to attend a Chilliwack community corrections program.

But he didn’t show up and an arrest warrant was issued on June 13, 2005.

RCMP say they recently tracked Burkard to Hope, B.C., and notified family members, but he turned himself in before officers went to arrest him.
