The Latest: Victim in convenience store slaying identified

KELSO, Wash. – The Latest on a fatal convenience store robbery in Kelso, Washington (all times local):

11:45 a.m.

Authorities say a convenience store clerk who was shot and killed during a robbery in Kelso, Washington, was able to call 911 before she died.

KGW reports the victim in the early Tuesday morning shooting at the Holt’s Quick Check was identified as 30-year-old clerk Kayla Chapman.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a white, late-model, smaller sedan. Other people were believed to be in the car during the robbery.

Kelso Police Chief Andrew Hamilton said: “We’ll find this individual.”

Authorities are searching for a person who shot and killed a convenience store employee during a robbery in Kelso, Washington.

According to the Kelso Police Department, the robbery occurred at Holt’s Quik Check at 4:12 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect shot and killed the only employee in the store.

Police are not releasing the victim’s name until family members have been notified.
