Police called to Penticton A&W over bizarre incident involving a machete
PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP responded to a complaint from the staff at a local restaurant last week about a man cutting himself in the bathroom.
Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says on Tuesday, Jan. 10, police were called to the Main and Duncan A&W. He says a man told officer he was using a small knife to get a sliver out of his hand.
Without being belligerent or threatening, the man did refuse to leave the restaurant.
Police then discovered a large machete stuffed into the man’s pants, as well as assorted drugs and needles, Wrigglesworth says.
The man was sober and cooperative with police but was arrested and released on a promise to appear after being found in breach of probation.
