Rapist with violent history in three provinces declared dangerous offender
KAMLOOPS, B.C. – A convicted rapist with a history of violence in three provinces has been declared a dangerous offender.
B.C. Supreme Court Justice Richard Blair spent more than an hour reading a 40-page decision on 46-year-old Dennis Wayne Bragg.
The Crown’s application stems from Bragg’s 2010 conviction for forcibly confining and sexually assaulting a mentally challenged and pregnant sex trade worker in north Kamloops.
Bragg has been in custody for 45 months.
Blair said Bragg also pleaded guilty or was convicted of violent sexual assaults on his wife, a friend and a stranger in Newfoundland and New Brunswick between 1998 and 2002 and struggles to control his impulses despite taking medication.
A dangerous offender can receive an indeterminate sentence and be locked up for life. (CHNL)
