Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Oil and gas. Up $2.44, or 5.65 per cent, to $45.60 on 14.5 million shares. The pipeline giant has announced an agreement to raise $2 billion by selling its own shares, the proceeds of which will go toward paying down short-term debt. Enbridge and a group of Canadian and U.S. banks have agreed to issue 49.14 million shares on a bought-deal basis.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Down 10 cents, or 8.47 per cent, to $1.08 on 14.2 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 30 cents, or 6.91 per cent, to $4.04 on 8.8 million shares.

Boulder Energy Ltd. (TSX:BXO). Oil and gas. Up $1.03, or 67.76 per cent, to $2.55 on 8.4 million shares.

BSM Technologies Inc. (TSX:GPS). Consulting and outsourcing. Up eight cents, or 8.25 per cent, to $1.05 on 8.4 million shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up 13 cents, or 2.91 per cent, to $4.60 on 7.3 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Toronto-Dominion Bank (TSX:TD). Bank. Up 69 cents, or 1.35 per cent, to $51.92 on 2.7 million shares. The bank grew its first-quarter profit by roughly eight per cent to $2.22 billion on higher earnings from its Canadian and U.S. retail banking operations. That’s up from the $2.06 billion that the bank reported during the first quarter of last year.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (TSX:CM). Bank. Up $2.21, or 2.53 per cent, to $89.66 on 1.5 million shares. The bank says its first-quarter profit grew six per cent to $982 million as earnings from its retail and business banking segment grew. That compares with a $923 million profit during the same quarter last year.
