MONTREAL – Nick Diaz has done it again.
The UFC welterweight contender failed to show up Wednesday for a public workout ahead of his UFC 158 main event Saturday with champion Georges St-Pierre.
The two were supposed to meet at UFC 137 in October 2011 but Diaz was pulled from the card after failing to show up for news conferences in Toronto and Las Vegas.
That’s not likely to happen this time, with the fight so close and Diaz still on the hook for a news conference and weigh-in ahead of the fight.
The UFC offered no excuses for Diaz, saying it was trying to locate the California fighter.
“He better be at the press conference,” UFC president Dana White said.
St-Pierre did show up, playing with some young karate students in the cage before throwing signed T-shirts and DVD’s into the crowd.
The public workouts were at a downtown Montreal mall.
