Bus plunges off bridge in India, killing at least 37 people, injuring another 15

NEW DELHI – Police in India say 37 people have been killed and 15 others injured after a bus fell off a bridge in western India.

Police official Mahendra Singh Pardeshi says the accident took place before dawn Tuesday in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.

The bus was carrying passengers from the beach resort state of Goa to Mumbai, more than 200 kilometres south of Mumbai.

The driver was among those injured.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.
