Judge dismisses drug conviction of Robert Downey Jr.’s son

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A judge has dismissed a drug conviction of the son of actor Robert Downey Jr.

City News Service says a Los Angeles judge wiped Indio Downey’s guilty plea to cocaine possession from the criminal record on Tuesday after he successfully completed an 18-month diversion program.

The 22-year-old was arrested about two years ago in West Hollywood, California.

Robert Downey Jr., who also struggled with drug abuse and wound up in prison before going sober, issued a statement after the arrest saying that his son may have inherited a genetic component of addiction.

Gov. Jerry Brown pardoned the “Iron Man” star last December, saying he has become a law-abiding citizen.
