James Deen porn company cited for failing to use condoms
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – California has cited a movie company owned by porn star James Deen for failing to use condoms on a film shoot, potentially exposing actors to hepatitis B and HIV.
Cal/OSHA on Wednesday cited Los Angeles-based Third Rock Productions for nine violations — some considered serious — and proposed nearly $78,000 in fines.
Messages seeking comment from Deen weren’t immediately returned.
Health and safety regulators began investigating Deen last December after allegations that he sexually assaulted porn actresses. He’s denied the allegations and the citations don’t involve those claims.
However, Cal/OSHA says actors weren’t using condoms during a January film shoot and that violates state regulations protecting workers from bloodborne pathogens.
The agency also says producers didn’t provide a vaccine or medical exams for potential exposure to hepatitis B.
