Canadian Stacey Allaster takes executive job with U.S. Tennis Association

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Canadian Stacey Allaster has been hired as the U.S. Tennis Association’s chief executive for professional tennis.

Allaster, the former head of the Women’s Tennis Association, will report to USTA executive director Gordon Smith.

U.S. Open tournament director David Brewer will report to Allaster.

The native of Welland, Ont., stepped down as chief executive of the WTA last year, saying she wanted to devote more time to her family.

A former Rogers Cup tournament director, Allaster joined the WTA in 2006 as its president and was promoted to CEO and chairman in 2009.

Allaster was instrumental in securing equal prize money for women at six WTA tournaments and all four Grand Slams. She also played a key role in streamlining the WTA calendar and securing a landmark international media agreement.
