Ikea recall 3 models of lamps over electric shock risk

HELSINKI – Swedish furniture retailer Ikea is recalling three models of table and floor lamps because they could cause electric shocks to users.

The company urges all customers with Gothem lamps to immediately stop using them and return them to an Ikea store for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not necessary.

Ikea said Thursday that even if the lamps appear to function normally there is a danger of damaged cables in the lamps which could cause the metal body to become electrically live, creating a potential safety hazard.

It said the recall concerns all three models of the Gothem lamps — two table lamps and one floor lamp.
