PARIS – Blaise Matuidi equalized with the last kick of the match to earn Paris Saint-Germain a 2-2 draw against Barcelona in an eventful Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday.
Matuidi took an excellent knock down from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and hit a low shot from the edge of the penalty area which just squirmed under goalkeeper Victor Valdes to send the home fans wild after PSG twice came from behind.
Xavi Hernandez seemed to have sealed the win with an 89th-minute penalty, after Ibrahimovic had cancelled out Lionel Messi’s first-half goal.
Messi went off injured at halftime with a right hamstring injury, having put Barca ahead in the 38th minute with his 57th goal of the season. Ibrahimovic got his 30th of the campaign to pull PSG level in the 79th.
