Head of enforcement for Ontario Securities Commission gets new job in Hong Kong

TORONTO – The Ontario Securities Commission says its director of enforcement is leaving to take a similar role in Hong Kong.

Tom Atkinson was appointed as the OSC’s director of enforcement in 2009.

Prior to that, Atkinson was founding president and CEO of Market Regulation Services Inc., held positions at the Toronto Stock Exchange and was an assistant Crown attorney from 1993 to 1996 for the Ontario Court of Justice.

The OSC says Atkinson has accepted a position as executive director of enforcement at the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong.

The Ontario Securities Commission will appoint an acting director of enforcement in the coming weeks.
