Book on BlackBerry among finalists for National Business Book Award

TORONTO – Stories on BlackBerry, journalism in the digital era and economic inequality have made the short list for this year’s National Business Book Award.

“Losing the Signal: The Spectacular Rise and Fall of BlackBerry” by Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff (HarperCollins Publishers Ltd.) is among three finalists for the $30,000 prize.

The others include “Mass Disruption: Thirty Years on the Front Lines of a Media Revolution” by former Globe and Mail editor John Stackhouse (Random House Canada), and “The Inequality Trap: Fighting Capitalism Instead of Poverty” by William Watson (University of Toronto Press).

The winner will be announced at a luncheon on April 21.

Peter Mansbridge chairs the jury, which includes William Dimma, Deirdre McMurdy, David Denison, Anna Porter and Pamela Wallin.
