Clean-up underway as bio-diesel leaks from tank at Port Moody’s Suncor plant
PORT MOODY, B.C. – Suncor Energy confirms about 225 barrels of bio-diesel have leaked at its plant in Port Moody, B.C., with a small amount of the oil seeping into Burrard Inlet.
The incident occurred four days ago, but details are only being released now.
Spokeswoman Sneh Seetal (sin-AH SEE-tall) says the leaking tank was drained as soon as the problem was noted.
She also says all the appropriate authorities were immediately informed.
Most of the bio-diesel was collected in a trench and disposed of, and Seetal says Western Canada Marine Response Corporation is working with Suncor to complete the clean-up.
