TORONTO – Luke Bradley is on track to make his HSBC Sevens Series debut next week in Hong Kong after being named to head coach Liam Middleton’s 13-man rugby sevens squad on Friday.
Bradley, 20, would become the fourth player to make his series debut this season, following Matt Mullins, Phil Berna and Luke McCloskey.
Middleton will have to make do without Sean Duke (back), Phil Mack (knee) and Adam Zaruba (knee), all of whom were injured at the recent Canada Sevens in Vancouver.
Canada has been drawn into Pool D in Hong Kong with powerful Fiji as well as Wales and South Korea.
Canada lost to Fiji in its first game of the season in Dubai and is 1-3 against Wales, including a loss in Vancouver that eventually cost the Canadians a chance to reach the elite Cup quarter-finals. Middleton’s team has yet to face South Korea this season.
The Hong Kong tournament runs April 7-9 (Canada time).
Canada is 13th in the overall standings after six events of the 10-stop circuit.
