KAMLOOPS – RCMP have a man in custody following an incident at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops this morning.
Insp. Sunny Parmar says a man barricaded himself inside an emergency room. He says officers were called to the hospital shortly after 11 a.m. today, March 9, after receiving reports about a distraught male.
Parmar says staff and patients at the hospital were not at risk before officers were able to de-escalate the situation.
Darshan Lindsay with Interior Health Authority communications say a second triage area was been set up for arriving patients while police dealt with the incident.
