Rainer Wilkins to represent Green Party for Kelowna-Mission riding

KELOWNA – The B.C. Green Party has announced Rainer Wilkins will represent the riding of Kelowna-Mission in the upcoming provincial election.

Vice-President of the Kelowna Arts Council for the past five years, Rainer is a wine sales professional and certified wine sommelier.

“I chose to be a candidate because I believe that we must act to ensure there is a positive standard of living for all British Columbians and a strong economy that relies less on fossil fuels,” Rainer said in a press release.

Rainer has lived in Kelowna for the past 12 years.

Wilkins enters the race with Liberal MLA incumbent Steve Thomson who has represented the riding since 2009.

Thomson is currently the Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and chairs the Environment and Land Use Committee.

The NDP has not yet announced a candidate.
