VICTORIA – A 51-year-old American man has been identified as the person killed in a helicopter crash on the B.C. coast on Saturday.
The BC Coroners Service says Michael Kent Monson, of Selah, Wash., was among six people on a heli-fishing trip when the crash occurred.
The helicopter had taken off from a location along the Homathko River before plunging back into the water near Stewart Island.
The other five people aboard were able to escape the wreckage and were rescued.
RCMP drivers had to be called in to recovered Monson’s body.
Both the BC Coroners Service and the RCMP are investigating the death.
