New Skaha Lake agreement with City of Penticton proceeding on schedule

PENTICTON – The agreement between Trio Marine Group and the City of Penticton continues to unfold as scheduled.

City Communications Officer Mark Parker said in a press release issued yesterday, March 15, a five year marketing, operating and revenue and expense statement for Skaha Marine, the restaurant and retail area had been received by the City in accordance with a mid-March deadline.

Parker said the city will review the information with a deadline for acceptance of the five year plan set for May 15, 2017.

There are no options in the agreement for a water slide, hotel or other commercial facility in Skaha Park following acceptance by both parties of the revised enhanced marina agreement signed last year.

Trio Marine does have the right to increase the number of boat slips from 60 to 100 and make improvements to the marina building and facilities. It also had the right to propose a seasonal, water based amenity on the foreshore of Skaha Lake, subject to public input and city approval in 2018.

The agreement gives Trio an opportunity to pitch a proposal for renewal or replacement of the existing boathouse and concession, with the provision no green space be lost in the park.

The building would be built and operated by Trio, subject to public input and city approval.
