Renowned Kamloops author Richard Wagamese’s life to be celebrated at public event

KAMLOOPS – A public celebration of the life of Richard Wagamese is planned for later this month.

The event will be hosted at the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc Pow Wow grounds on Saturday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The ceremony will include an opening by an Ojibway elder and guest speakers, according to a Facebook post.

The public are encouraged to share their stories and say their goodbyes to the celebrated First Nations author and columnist.

Wagamese, originally from northern Ontario, died earlier this month in Kamloops at the age of 61. He was the author of a dozen books, including Indian Horse, an award winning novel which is being turned into a film and was shot in Kamloops last year.
