Jacques Demers begins therapy and is in stable condition after stroke: hospital
MONTREAL – Sen. Jacques Demers has begun therapy and his overall health is getting better after his stroke last week, hospital officials said Monday.
“His overall medical condition is stable and continues to improve,” said a statement from the McGill University Health Centre.
“Senator Demers’ neurological condition has improved since being admitted and he has started therapy.”
The next update is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
The 71-year-old former NHL coach was rushed to hospital last Wednesday night.
Demers, who coached the Montreal Canadiens to their 1993 Stanley Cup victory, is a patient of the team’s current doctor, David Mulder.
