It looks like warm weather here to stay in the Okanagan

OKANAGAN – The warmth of spring looks like it’s here to stay although we’re a few weeks behind last year.

Today, March 30, the forecast from Environment Canada calls for a mix of sun and cloud, with 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of about 10 Celsius in Okanagan. In the South Okanagan the wind might make it feel a bit cooler though, as gusts up to 50 km/h are expected. Overnight the mercury will drop to about 2 C.

Tomorrow will start off mainly sunny with clouds expected to roll in during the afternoon as the temperature reaches 14 C. Overnight there’s a 40 per cent chance of showers with a low of 3 C.

Saturday, April 1, we can expect the clouds to stay with a 40 per cent chance of showers, but a pleasant high of 15 C is forecast as well. In the evening those showers will dissipate with cloudy periods at night. A low of 4 C is forecast.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected Sunday with a high of 14 C, with cloudy periods at night and a low of 1 C.

The sunnier trend will continue into next week with clear days and nights forecast and highs around 16 C.

While the past weeks or more have been more wintery than recent years, the weekend temperatures are forecast to be above the average. Normally the Okanagan Valley is has highs around 12 C and lows of about 1 C at this time of year.

However, compared to last year we’re way behind. March 2016 ended with records falling throughout the B.C. Interior as communities recorded high temperatures in the low to mid-20s.
