TORONTO – It appears Michael Buble fans have found room in their hearts for “To Be Loved.”
The Canadian crooner’s latest record has topped charts both at home and the United States.
Fuelled by sunny single “It’s a Beautiful Day,” the Burnaby, B.C., native’s album sold 40,000 copies in Canada to easily claim top spot, according to a representative for the singer.
In the U.S., “To Be Loved” was No. 1 with 195,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan numbers published in Billboard.
The second spot went to former “American Idol” winner Fantasia, whose fourth studio album moved 100,000 fewer copies than Buble’s newest.
In Canada, the 37-year-old likely got a boost after hosting the Juno Awards in Regina the weekend prior to his album’s release.
He’s now had five straight albums reach the top spot on the Canadian album charts.
Buble and wife Luisana Lopilato are expecting their first child.
