Ricky Romero to get first start Friday after Blue Jays put Johnson on disabled list

TORONTO – Blue Jays left-hander Ricky Romero will make his season debut Friday after the club placed Josh Johnson on the disabled list.

The right-hander missed his last start due to inflammation in his right triceps. The move is retroactive to April 29.

Johnson is 0-1 with a 6.86 ERA in four starts since being acquired in an off-season trade with Miami.

A 2011 all-star, Romero struggled in spring training and started the season in the minor leagues to work on his mechanics.

Romero had one start with the single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, allowing one run on six hits in seven innings.

The Jays also recalled right-hander Brad Lincoln from triple-A Buffalo.

Lincoln has made two appearances for the major league club this season, allowing two runs in two innings.
