UPDATE: Suspect in custody after downtown Kamloops bank robbed

KAMLOOPS – A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection to robbing a downtown Kamloops bank yesterday.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush says police are still investigating whether this robbery and a separate robbery at the Howard Johnson hotel earlier this week are related.

Bush says the suspect in the Victoria Street CIBC robbery is known to police and will make a court appearance later this morning, April 12.

Police said yesterday that a lone man entered the CIBC in downtown Kamloops and demanded cash before fleeing on foot around 2:30 p.m.

A note taped to an inside door at the bank said the branch would be closed for the remainder of the day.
