Penticton great-grandmother sentenced to life in prison for murdering Roxanne Louie

KELOWNA – The Penticton brother and sister who worked together to murder Roxanne Louie and dump her body in the woods near Naramata in 2015 were sentenced in Kelowna Supreme Court today.

After a joint submission from both Crown and defence lawyers, Justice Dev Dley sentenced Pier Robotti, 63, to 27 months in prison for moving the body of Louie, the 27-year-old mother of Grace's great-grandson.

Grace Robotti, Pier’s 67-year-old sister, who admits she killed Louie with 26 blows to the head with a metal bar Jan. 4, 2015, received the mandatory life in prison sentence for second-degree murder.

She says she killed Louie in self-defence but a Kelowna jury found her guilty and recommended she be eligible for parole in 10 years. She was also sentenced to 27 months for the part she played in moving the body.

Neither Pier nor Grace have criminal records.

Both siblings spoke at their sentence saying they regret the hurt they caused Roxanne’s family as well as their own.

“There are no words that can bring Roxanne back, I wish there were,” Grace said. “I wish I could turn back the clock.”
