Report of person jumping from Overlanders Bridge sparks search
KAMLOOPS – Police are asking anyone who may have seen a person jump from the Overlanders Bridge in Kamloops this morning to give them a call.
The person has still not been located after an exhaustive search of the South Thompson River by police officers and Kamloops Search and Rescue volunteers, according to an RCMP media release.
A search and rescue helicopter continues to search the shorelines this afternoon, May 4, police say.
RCMP were called to the bridge at 10:45 a.m. today with a report a person jumped from the southeast end of the Overlanders Bridge. The witness was too far away to get a description of the person.
CP Police Service and B.C. Ambulance Service were also called to the scene.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the person jump or saw anyone on the bridge acting suspiciously around 10:30 a.m. today, May 4, to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
