VANCOUVER – A pre-sentencing hearing is underway in Vancouver for a Stanley Cup rioter whose lawyer is calling for a conditional discharge.
Sophie Laboissonniere (LAUB-wow-zinee-air) has pleaded guilty to taking part in the June 2011 riot, in exchange for a second break-and-enter charge being dropped.
The Crown is calling for a two-month conditional sentence followed by probation and then community service.
A Crown lawyer said Monday that Laboissonniere broke into a London Drugs store and joined a mob that looted the place.
The former beauty queen showed no emotion when provincial court heard an emotional 9-1-1 call from a store employee as fellow workers huddled in the receiving area, afraid for their lives.
Court also saw video of the store being looted by hundreds of people on the night the Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup to the Boston Bruins.(CKNW)
