‘Tis the season to drive carefully, says Deputy Chief
Vernon Fire Rescue crews had to use the jaws of life to extricate a woman from a crushed truck this morning. Her vehicle collided with another truck on 32nd Avenue.
Deputy Chief Jack Blair tells InfoTel News the woman suffered no serious injuries, though the driver's side door was smashed in.
"She was transported right across the street to the hospital," Blair says, noting the location was quite convenient. The woman is in hospital for observation.
Blair says the accident is proof of what can happen on icy roads. He says the combination of warm daytime temperatures and chilly nights makes for extremely slippery road conditions.
Vernon Fire Rescue has responded to five motor vehicle incidents in the past five days.
Blair advises drivers to slow down and drive to conditions.
