Local woman charged with threatening politicians not present for first day in court

KELOWNA – The woman accused of threatening then-Premier and Westside-Kelowna MLA Christy Clark and former Forests minister and Kelowna-Mission MLA Steve Thomson made her first appearance in court today, June 30.

Pavla Janeckova is charged with two counts of uttering threats and although not present in person, her lawyer Wade Jenson spoke on her behalf.

The threats are alleged to have been made against the two politicians around April 30 during the election.

Special crown prosecutor Kris Prechet told Jenson he would provide particulars on the case “in short order,” ahead of her next court appearance July 24 in Kelowna Provincial Court.
