TORONTO – While recent reports have linked Toronto FC to Uruguayan star Diego Forlan, Toronto manager Ryan Nelsen has his eye on several players.
A young forward is in the cards. Experience is wanted in midfield. Help is also needed at fullback.
Hampering the makeover are salary cap issues that are making moves difficult.
While the club has not had much to say on the subject of Forlan, Nelsen suggeststhat the framework of his team has to be improved before it is worth injecting star quality.
One player cannot turn a team around. The landscape has to be improved so a marquee player can flourish.
Nelsen is coy on the subject of Forlan but seems more than willing to have such a marquee player on board if the franchise can land him. And as long as the club has the right players around him.
The manager also acknowledges the team needs a veteran to help school the youngsters.
