Autopsy for “Glee” actor Cory Monteith scheduled for Monday

VANCOUVER – Police say an autopsy is expected to take place on Monday to determine the cause of death of Canadian actor and “Glee” star Cory Monteith.

The 31-year-old actor, who plays the role of football player and singer Finn Hudson on the popular television series, was found dead at a Vancouver hotel room on Saturday.

Police say foul play is not suspected, and investigators believe Monteith died alone.

His death comes several months after he told People magazine that he had admitted himself into rehab for substance abuse, but police declined to speculate whether there was any connection.

Monteith’s publicist Melissa Kates said she is saddened by the news, while the executive producers of “Glee” and Fox said that Monteith was an exceptional talent and a joy to work with, and he will be missed.

Monteith was born in Calgary and raised in Victoria, where his mother still lives.
