SAN FRANCISCO – In a story Jan. 26 about damage to California’s Oroville Dam, The Associated Press reported that the state Department of Water Resources’ estimate of $870 million for emergency response and repairs “should stand.” The story should have included an explanation by DWR spokeswoman Erin Mellon that while all known costs so far are included in the total, unforeseen events could change the final bill.
