Final alerts lifted for Okanagan Centre wildfire neighbourhoods
LAKE COUNTRY – The Okanagan Centre fire is out and the remaining evacuation alert have been lifted.
The 58 properties on Nighthawk, Long and Tyndall Roads were left on alert as fire crews searched for hot spots after the 50 hectare fire sent hundreds from their homes last week.
A media release from the Emergency Operations Centre asks that the public stay out of fire-affected areas and obey all warning and hazard signs.
Parks, trails and public and private lands in the area of the fire remain closed, including Jack Seaton Park and trails.
"As the fire is 100 per cent contained and no further residents remain on evacuation order or alert, the Emergency Operation Centre is standing down for this event," EOC officials say.
