TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts have released linebacker Brandon Isaac and placed star running back Chad Kackert on the one-game injured list.
Kackert suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter of Toronto’s 35-19 road win over Winnipeg on Friday night.
The Argonauts didn’t provide any details about Kackert’s injury or the left knee injury that also forced starting quarterback Ricky Ray out of Friday’s game.
No details were provided on the surprising move to cut defensive captain Isaac, one of only five starters back from last year’s Grey Cup-winning defence.
Coach Scott Milanovich is expected to address the media later today.
The team also added defensive backs Ricardo Colclough and Hugo Lopez and running back Chris Jennings.
Rookie defensive lineman Nekos Brown, who opened the season as a starter, and offensive lineman Michael Di Domenico were also released.
Toronto (2-2) is first in the East Division standings and will face the B.C. Lions at Rogers Centre on July 30.
