Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival cancelled due to air quality
KAMLOOPS – The 4th annual Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival is cancelled.
According to a Facebook post today, Aug. 4, by the Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival Committee the event scheduled for August 12 has been cancelled due to poor air quality in the region.
They "did not take this action easily and the decision was arrived at after considerable review and discussion," according to the Facebook post. Because government officials cannot advise when the smoke will clear from the region, the festival doesn't want teams to compete in conditions that can impact the competitor's health.
