PIERMONT, N.Y. – A bride-to-be and the best man in her wedding are missing after a speedboat crashed into a construction barge on the Hudson River near New York’s Tappan Zee Bridge.
Carol Stewart tells WABC-TV that her 30-year-old daughter, Lindsey Stewart, is missing after Friday night’s crash. She identified the other missing person as the best man in the wedding, which was scheduled for Aug. 10.
Authorities say four other people were hurt in the crash, some badly.
Rockland County Sheriff’s Department Chief William Barbera said at a Saturday news conference that the accident happened shortly after the boat left Piermont for a short trip across the river to Tarrytown.
Rescuers searched for the missing boaters for several hours overnight before suspending the hunt. They resumed the search Saturday morning.
