Play at the RBC Canadian Open suspended due to weather

OAKVILLE, Ont. – Third-round play at the RBC Canadian Open has been suspended due to weather.

The horn signalling the suspension of play rang out across Glen Abbey Golf Club at 12 p.m. ET Saturday. Tournament leader Hunter Mahan, who sat at 13 under after 36 holes, was scheduled to tee off at 1:30 p.m.

Players who started their rounds early in day benefited from calm conditions on the par-72, 7,253-yard course.

Charl Schwartzel and Chad Campbell both carded 66s to improve to 7 under overall, while David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., shot a 68 to move to 5 under.

Mike Weir of Brights Grove, Ont., was 1 under through three holes and sat at 5 under overall when play was called. Roger Sloan of Merritt, B.C., was even after 16 holes and was 2 under for the tournament.

There was a loud cheer from the gallery just before play was called when Jason Kokrak fired a hole in one on the 197-yard par-3 fourth. He sat 3 under for the day and 7 under overall.

Meanwhile, Ottawa’s Brad Fritsch was forced to withdraw before the round with a back injury to cut the number of Canadians remaining in the field to three.
