Man walking on Highway 97A near Enderby struck and killed by vehicle

ENDERBY – A man was killed while walking on Highway 97A in the North Okanagan last night.

The 37-year-old pedestrian was walking near the Starlight Drive-In, just south of Enderby, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, when he was struck by a vehicle, Cpl. Joe Leeson of the North Okanagan RCMP says.

The man’s name has not been released, but police say he was from Vernon.

RCMP spokesperson Dan Moskaluk says preliminary investigation suggests the man was struck by a northbound Alberta registered red Ford F350 pick-up truck while he was in the travelled portion of the northbound lane of Highway 97A. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the vehicle driver was not injured.

North Okanagan RCMP continue to investigate.
