KAMLOOPS – Warmer weather is returning to Kamloops along with the smoke from B.C. wildfires.

Environment Canada says high temperatures are likely to remain close to 30 Celsius this weekend.

The forecast today, Aug. 17, calls for sunny skies and local smoke. Due to wildfire smoke, the special air quality statement for the South Thompson remains in effect. Expect some wind in the afternoon with a high of 29 C. The UV is 7 or in the high range. Expect a few clouds overnight, local smoke and a low of 14 C.

Tomorrow we are looking for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 28 C. There is likely to be an easterly wind in the afternoon and local smoke is anticipated to continue.

On Saturday and Sunday the forecast calls for sunshine and highs around 28 C, with clear skies overnight with lows around 13 C.

Forecasters are calling for more sun for the beginning of next week with temperatures expected to reach past the 30 C mark.
