Toronto man charged in Saskatchewan after pipe bomb found at border crossing
WEYBURN, Sask. – A Toronto man has been charged after border guards prevented a pipe bomb from being carried into Saskatchewan from North Dakota.
The 21-year-old was arrested Saturday after Canada Border Services Agency officers found a device in personal effects at the North Portal crossing.
One building was evacuated and the RCMP explosive disposal team was called in.
The pipe bomb was removed from the area and safely detonated.
RCMP say they don’t believe the man or the pipe bomb had anything to do with terrorism or organized crime
Derek Joseph Formosa appeared briefly in Weyburn court Tuesday on a charge of possessing an explosive device and is to appear again in court Thursday. (CFSL)
